Leading the Ecosystems that Shape Asia's Energy Future

Asia is at the forefront of the global energy transition. Home to the world's fastest-growing energy demand, largest renewable energy investments, and some of its most complex development challenges, the region will play a defining role in shaping the future of energy.

Yet the transition is not simply a technological shift—it is a governance challenge. Achieving a Just Energy Transition (JET) requires governments, businesses, financiers, communities, universities, Indigenous Peoples, civil society, and development partners to work together in new and more effective ways.

The Asian Energy Futures Fellows program of the Institute for Climate Governance at the Asian School of Governance develops ecosystem leaders who can build these partnerships and govern the transition toward climate-adaptive, regenerative, secure, and inclusive energy futures across Asia.

Rather than focusing solely on energy policy or renewable energy technologies, the Fellowship equips participants with the leadership, governance, and collaboration capabilities needed to align diverse actors, navigate competing interests, mobilize investment, and translate ambitious climate and energy commitments into lasting action.

What Fellows Learn

The Fellowship combines executive learning with practical application through four integrated themes.

Ecosystem Leadership for Energy Futures

Develop the adaptive leadership capabilities needed to lead through uncertainty, manage competing interests, and mobilize collective action across complex energy systems.

Energy Governance and Just Transition

Strengthen the institutions, policies, financing mechanisms, and governance systems needed to deliver secure, affordable, equitable, and climate-adaptive energy transitions.

System Innovation

Learn how to convene diverse stakeholders, build trust, facilitate collaboration, and orchestrate collective action across governments, businesses, financiers, communities, universities, and civil society.

Climate Action Labs

Apply learning through interdisciplinary, action-oriented projects that address real-world energy challenges while strengthening the broader energy transition ecosystem.

Fellowship Experience

Over 10–12 months, Fellows participate in executive masterclasses, leadership dialogues, peer learning circles, Climate Action Labs, field immersions, executive coaching, and a capstone implementation project addressing a real-world energy governance challenge.

Each Fellow develops an Energy Futures Action Project that advances collaboration, institutional innovation, or policy implementation within their organization, sector, or country.

Outcomes

Graduates become part of the Asian Energy Futures Fellows Network—a community of leaders committed to advancing Asia's energy future through collaboration and innovation. Fellows will be equipped to:

• Lead climate-adaptive and regenerative energy transitions.

• Strengthen energy governance institutions.

• Build high-impact cross-sector partnerships.

• Mobilize finance and collaborative action.

• Scale innovative solutions through Climate Action Labs.
